The Music

Mary and Evan will bring us The Most Beautiful Waltz, musical dances for Valentines Day at the Farm.

It will be a concert of dance music by the American composers of this generation: Judd Greenstein, Lembit Beecher, Nicco Muhly.  Performing will also be bassoonist Brad Balliett, clarinetist Nicholas Gallas, and violist Nathan Schram  from New York City, joining Scrag Mountain Music for the first time.

The program will include two works by their composer-in-residence Lembit Beecher: his “Small Suite” for clarinet, viola, and double bass as well as his “Songs of Remembered Love” featuring the recorded voice of his Estonian grandmother.  Also on the program will be NYC composer Judd Greenstein’s toe-tapping “Summer Dances.”  Nathan will perform Vermont native Nicco Muhly’s mesmerizing Etudes for Viola and Tape.  For more on the program including details on their VERY open rehearsal, see ScragMountainMusic.org.
