June 2nd we will re-open the farm for shoppers & visitors, Wednesdays from 3-7 pm.*
As we write to welcome you (back) to the farm, the pond full of peepers pierce through closed windows on this chilly night. Prior to this afternoon’s thunderstorm the air was heavy with the spicy, sweet and flowery fragrance of plum blossoms.
On any given day there is no telling what you might see, touch or taste here but this summer we are going to re-open to visitors on Wednesday late afternoons so you can whiff, watch, walk, wonder, wax, –even worship if you wish! We so look forward to reenergizing our regenerative farm by having you, our farm share members, shoppers and community here!
Each week there will be something fun for kids on the front end of the time window and tastings, explorations and such for all ages. And since it is teatime we will have a fresh herb iced tea each week for free and additional festive refreshments and prepared foods will be on offer. Check out Event Calendar for Schedule!
Serious shoppers on a schedule will have the option of just picking up an order as has become the custom in the COVID era but anyone wishing to fondle some fruits, say when peppers and tomatoes are in season, will have that opportunity as we move to a hybrid shopping system. Pre-orders via our online Farmstand will remain the best way to shop but select items will be displayed market style outside for you to fine tune fresh produce purchases.
There are details still to work out so we look forward to your questions and to dialogue about what you’d like to experience (and what we farmers can manage) at the farm this summer as we transition back to having folks at the farm!
Flowers: our 2021 naming theme
Lucinda, a quite young farmer/farm fan, suggested Flowers when she heard we needed a naming scheme so that the piglets could get names. We thought Flowers was fitting for 2021, a year for a fresh start and remembering that we can all bloom again after a long COVID winter. And flowers & pollinators are so key to most of the food we enjoy!
So Flowers it is! And we need Flower name nominations for piglets, including some that will become future sows!; chicks, turkeys and who knows what else! So send them to us, via email or on facebook!
*Indeed, the farm will ONLY be open on Wednesdays 3-7 pm for shopping &/or farm experiences for summer 2021.
