Music for Farms: November 12th

Saturday November 12th:

4pm: Concert – Come as you are, Pay what you can

6pm: Farm Soup Supper- $15, proceeds support the farm’s subsidized farm share program

“Music for Farms” is an international initiative that works to revive and sustain local organic agriculture and farming communities through the arts. Founded and conceptualized in New York and Canada by musicians and farmers John McDowell (piano, percussion) and Emmanuel Vukovich (violin), Music for Farms tours venues and farms performing traditional classical music as well as original compositions and world music arrangements.  The group also includes New York City cellist Julia MacLaine who has become a Scrag Mountain Music favorite as well as Scrag Mountain Music artistic director Evan Premo.

Music for the evening will include Parcifal (the story of the epic quest for the holy grail), tangos, a Georgian love song, Indian classical music by Ravi Shankar, and American and Canadian fiddle tunes to get your feet stompin’.

As always Scrag Mountain Music presents these concerts as “Come as you are, Pay what you can” but this time all the proceeds will go to local farms impacted by Hurricane Irene and to support a subsidized farm share program at Green Mountain Girls Farm.
